Meantime, the Westpac-Melbourne Institute Unemployment Expectations Index went up 3.6% to 136.5, its highest reading since June 2017, as consumers expect unemployment to rise in the year ahead amid a slowdown in jobs growth and steady increases in jobless and underemployment rates.
