Lebanon Inflation Rate at 6-Month High of 3.17%
Lebanon’s annual inflation rate increased to 3.17 percent in November of 2019 from 1.33 percent in the previous month. This was the highest inflation rate since May, as prices increased faster for: food & non-alcoholic beverages prices accelerated (3.67 percent vs 1.18 in October); clothing & footwear prices advanced softer (14.39 percent vs 11.34 percent); health (0.05 percent vs 0.03 percent), while transport prices rebounded sharply (1.44 percent vs -1.45 percent). Meantime, housing & utilities prices continued to decline (-0.16 percent vs -0.8 percent in October). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 1.96 percent, after rising 1.36 percent in the prior month.

Lebanon Inflation Rate at 3-Month High of 1.3%
Lebanon’s annual inflation rate dropped to 1.33 percent in October of 2019 from 1.09 percent in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since July, as food & non-alcoholic beverages prices accelerated (1.18 percent vs 0.5 percent in September). In addition, cost fell softer for both housing & utilities (-0.8 percent vs -1.1 percent) and transport (-1.45 percent vs -1.6 percent). On the other hand, health inflation was steady (at 0.03 percent) while clothing & footwear prices advanced softer (11.34 percent vs 13.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 1.36 percent, after increasing 0.31 percent in the prior month.

Lebanon September Inflation Rate at 3-Year Low
Lebanon’s annual inflation rate dropped to 1.09 percent in September of 2019 from 1.45 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate since September of 2016, as food & non-alcoholic beverages prices slowed (0.5 percent vs 0.6 percent in August) while cost fell further for housing & utilities (-1.1 percent vs -0.5 percent) and transport (-1.6 percent vs -1.3 percent). On the other hand, health cost rebounded (a flat reading vs -0.2 percent) while clothing & footwear prices advanced faster (13.1 percent vs 12.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.31 percent, after increasing 0.01 percent in the prior month.

Lebanon Inflation Rate Eases Further to 1.22%
Lebanon’s annual inflation rate dropped to 1.22 percent in August 2019 from 1.45 percent in the previous month. It is the lowest inflation rate since October 2016, as prices slowed mostly for food & non-alcoholic beverages (0.58% vs 0.63% in July) and clothing & footwear (12.14% vs 17.35%). In addition, cost fell for housing & utilities (-0.49% vs 0.03%), namely water, electricity and other fuels (-3.27% vs -3.12%); transport (-1.27% vs -1.37%); health (-0.23% vs -1.94%) and communication (-0.65%, the same pace as in July). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.01 percent, after decreasing 0.46 percent in the prior month.

Lebanon July Inflation Rate at Near 3-Year Low of 1.45%
Lebanon’s consumer price inflation declined to 1.45 percent year-on-year in July 2019 from 1.69 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate since October 2016, as cost slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.63% vs 2.36% in June); housing & utilities (0.03% vs 0.10%); restaurants & hotels (1.23% vs 1.49%); recreation & culture (6.72% vs 7.10%), and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (0.54% vs 0.74%). Additionally, prices dropped further for health (-1.94% vs -1.30%) and communication (-0.65% vs -0.49%). Meantime, prices advanced at a faster pace for miscellaneous goods & services (2.39% vs 2.15%) and furnishings & household equipment (5.95% vs 5.42%) and inflation was steady for education (at 5.08%). Also, cost of transport fell less (-1.37% vs -1.54%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased 0.33 percent, following a 0.84 percent fall in June.

Lebanon Inflation Rate at Over 2-1/2- Year Low of 1.69%
Lebanon’s consumer prices inflation declined to 1.69 percent year-on-year in June 2019 from 3.48 percent in the previous month. This was the lowest inflation since October 2016, as prices rose at a softer pace for housing & utilities (0.10 pct vs 3.49 pct in May); food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.36 pct vs 4.39 pct); miscellaneous goods & services (2.15 pct vs 2.23 pct); furnishings & household equipment (5.42 pct vs 5.58 pct); and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (0.74 pct vs 0.84 pct). In addition, transport cost declined (-1.59 pct vs 0.64 pct). On the other hand, inflation was steady for education (at 5.08 pct) and restaurants & hotels (at 1.49 pct) while prices increased faster for recreation & culture (7.10 pct vs 6.69 pct). Additionally , prices dropped at a softer pace for both health (-1.30 pct vs -2.16 pct) and communication (-0.49 pct vs -0.50 pct). On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased 0.84 percent, following a 0.12 percent gain in May.
