Norway Retail Sales Growth Eases to 0.4% in August
Norway's retail trade increased by 0.4 percent year-on-year in August 2019, after a 0.9 rise a month earlier. Sales rose softer for retail trade not in stores, stalls and markets (4.3 percent vs 9.0 percent in July). In addition, sales dropped for: other household equipment (-0.3 percent vs 3.7 percent); cultural and recreation goods (-3.3 percent vs 2.8 percent), and other goods (-0.2 percent vs 0.5 percent), while that of information and communication equipment fell faster (-6.5 percent vs -4.5 percent). On the other hand, sales of food, beverages and tobacco went up faster (2.7 percent vs 2.1 percent in July), while that of sale in non-specialised stores increased by 1.0 percent, after a flat reading in July. By contrast, sales of automotive fuel rebounded (0.7 percent vs -3.9 percent).

Norway Retail Sales Growth Accelerates to 0.9%
Norway's retail trade increased by 0.9 percent year-on-year in July 2019, after a 0.4 rise a month earlier, mainly boosted by sales of food, beverages and tobacco (2.1 percent vs 1.2 percent in June); other household equipment (3.7 percent vs 1.3 percent); cultural and recreation goods (2.9 percent vs 3.4 percent); and retail trade not in stores, stalls and markets (9.0 percent vs 6.8 percent). By contrast, sales dropped for automotive fuel (-3.9 percent vs -2.3 percent) and information and communication equipment (-4.7 percent vs -4.3 percent).

Norway Retail Sales Rebound in June
Norway's retail trade increased by 0.4 percent year-on-year in June 2019, recovering from a revised 2.3 fall in a month earlier, boosted by sales of food, beverages and tobacco (1.1 percent vs 0.1 percent in May); other household equipment (1.3 percent vs -0.9 percent); cultural and recreation goods (3.3 percent vs 0.7 percent); and other goods (1.8 percent vs -7.3 percent). In addition, retail trade not in stores, stalls and markets jumped 6.8 percent, compared to 0.8 percent in May. By contrast, sales dropped for automotive fuel (-2.2 percent vs 1 percent) and information and communication equipment (-4.2 percent vs -9.3 percent).

Norway Retail Sales Fall the Most in Near 2-1/2 Years
Norway's retail trade dropped by 2.2 percent year-on-year in May 2019, after an upwardly revised 1.7 rise in a month earlier. This was the first decline in retail trade in three months, and the steepest fall since December 2016. Sales decreased for non-specialised stores (-0.8 pct vs 12.5 pct in April) while those of other goods fell faster (-5.0 pct vs -0.6 pct), and sales of information & communication equipment continued to drop (-5.9 pct vs -8.6 pct). In addition, sales went up softer for both automotive fuel (1.1 pct vs 5.4 pct) and food, beverages and tobacco (1.5 pct vs 18.1 pct). Meantime, retail trade growth accelerated for both other household equipment (1.4 pct vs 0.8 pct) and cultural and recreation goods (3.7 pct vs 1.7 pct) while those of not in stores, stalls and markets recovered sharply (5.8 pct vs -2.0 pct).

Norway Retail Sales Return to Growth in April
Norway's retail trade increased by 1.6 percent year-on-year in April 2019, after an upwardly revised flat reading in a month earlier. Sales rebounded for both automotive fuel (0.1 percent vs -4 percent in March) and other goods (0.4 percent vs -1.4 percent). Also, retail trade not in stores, stalls and markets recovered sharply (5.6 percent vs -1.2 percent). In addition, sales of food, beverages and tobacco (1.6 percent vs 1.3 percent), those of non-specialised stores (2 percent vs 1 percent) and those of other household equipment (3.9 percent vs 1.4 percent) increased faster. At the same time, sales fell much less for cultural and recreation goods (-1.9 percent vs -5.4 percent). Meantime, sales of information & communication equipment plunged (-6.2 percent vs -0.5 percent).

Norway Retail Sales Fall for 2nd Straight Month
Norway's retail trade decreased 0.2 year-on-year in March 2019, following a 0.9 percent drop in the previous month, as sales fell for: cultural and recreation goods (-5.8 percent vs -11.9 percent); automotive fuel (-4.2 percent vs -3.2 percent); other goods (-1.4 percent vs -1.2 percent); information & communication equipment (-0.4 percent vs -10.1 percent); and food, beverages and tobacco (-0.2 percent vs 0.1 percent). Meanwhile, retail trade not in stores, stalls and markets posted the biggest gain (5.1 percent vs 1.2 percent), followed by sales in non-specialised stores (0.8 percent vs 0.6 percent) and those of other household equipment (1.2 percent vs unchanged).
